Zalman CNPS8900 Extreme Low Profile Heatsink Review - Frostytech

Quote:
With a 150W heat load applied by the Intel LGA1155/1156/775 version of FrostyTech's synthetic thermal test platform, the Zalman CNPS8900 Extreme heatsink was able to maintain a temperature result of 21.7°C over ambient at stock fan speed. After slowing the fan from 2800RPM to 1250RPM, CPU die temperature increased to 28.5°C while noise output fell from 48.2 dBA to a very quiet 34.8dBA.
Zalman's CNPS8900 Extreme heatsink was then tested with an 85W heat load. Under this test scenario the CNPS8900 Extreme cooler was able to maintain a good temperature result of 12.4°C over ambient at stock fan speed, 15.9°C over ambient at reduced.
Compared to +325 other heatsinks, the Zalman CNPS8900 Extreme offers good-to-average thermal performance. When it's considered among every sub-75mm tall heatsink Frosytech has tested, the situation changes dramatically... Zalman's CNPS8900 Extreme heatsink is the best performing sub-75mm tall heatsink we've tested to date, on AMD and Intel test platforms.
If you aren't limited by how tall your heatsink can be, well the alternative choices are many...
If you are limited to a heatsink less than 75mm tall, the Zalman CNPS8900 Extreme is an excellent thermal solution for miniPC/HTPC/miniITX systems. Zalman also had the foresight to include standard 4-pin PWM and mini-4-pin power cable that smaller PC systems sometimes adopt. Recommended for low profile cooling.

Thermalright Silver Arrow SB-E CPU Cooler Review - Tweaktown

Quote:
Thermalright does a great job on the Silver Arrow SB-E as far as temperatures and sound levels are concerned. I do need to go back and retest a few of the older coolers I have around here, to give a more full look at the temperatures with a few more comparisons on the list. I have the advantage of knowing the results of a few other tower coolers soon to be reviewed and with what I have seen and you soon will see in future reviews, Thermalright is at the top of the coolers in thermal performance.

As for the noise levels, well there isn't much of it to discuss. I really enjoyed the lack of noise from the cooler as I tested with it in my open air configuration. For those using this in a chassis, you will be hard pressed to hear it running.

Overall I liked the look of the cooler in the installed configuration. The green and tan fans on the aluminum fins are different, but still are pleasing to look at. The way the fins are shaped to take advantage of every bit of air flowing out of the fans helps the Silver Arrow deliver those great results and looks good doing it. I liked the Y-adapter for the fans and I liked the combination of 140mm and 150mm fans to cool this dual tower and I loved that they include a set of fan clips for a third fan if you want to drop these results a bit more. In almost every way this cooler is just full of win.

Tt BigWater 760 Plus CPU Liquid Cooler - NikKTech

Quote:
During the course of this review i was glad to see that Thermaltake has taken the quality and performance of their BigWater series of liquid CPU Coolers a step further than what they used to be. Still this effort although good was not enough and so if you are after the best possible bang for your buck then the BigWater 760 Plus will simply not give it to you and i suspect that the largest reason behind this is the medium-performance water block (i had nothing here to replace it with in order to verify my suspicion). The noise levels coming from both the 120mm fan and the pump are also something i didn't expect and although you can control the fan speed still there will be times when you will need to switch it at full speed and that's something only enthusiasts and overclockers may ignore. Still the BigWater 760 Plus has a set of interesting features including a small dual 5.25" size which allows it to fit in pretty much every PC Case out there (unlike dual/triple 120mm radiators), UV reactive tubings, manual fan speed control knob and an pre-assembled all-in-one design that includes a high performance 500L/Hr. pump, an 130cc reservoir and a 120mm radiator. Ontop of that much like with every liquid cooler out there you will also have zero clearance issues with the rest of the system something that counts a lot for some users.
Price may become the Achilles heel of the BigWater 760 Plus by Thermaltake since it currently retails for around USD120 inside the USA and 100Euros inside the EU. Overall i can't say that the price tag is placed high since you are getting a complete all-in-one water cooling system with very good build quality, however the performance and noise levels are just not what they should be for that price tag and in the end that's what really matters for most people. If the price of the BigWater 760 Plus was even just USD20/20Euros less it would easily get our Platinum award based on a very good price/performance ratio combined with all the benefits of having a liquid cooling solution, however that's not the case and so it walks away with our Golden award.

PROS

- Build Quality
- Size (2x5.25")
- Good Performance (Could Be Better)
- Manual Fan Speed Control
- All-In-One System
- Front Coolant Level Indicators
- Single 3Pin Power Connector
- UV Reactive Tubings And Coolant

CONS

- Water Block Quality
- Price (For Some)
- Noise Levels (For Some)

Standing at a mere 59mm / 2.3in tall, it is uniquely suited to thrive in the small spaces afforded to CPU coolers in HTPCs and other slim systems. This small size is accomplished by developing a new smaller 120mm fan that is only 15mm thick as opposed to ones that are traditionally 25mm. This newly developed fan not only provides the benefit of a 10mm shorter height, it maintains high airflow - providing up to 58.4CFM when set on high speed.

Cooler Master Intros Hyper 412 Slim CPU Cooler and Three New Thermal Compounds

This significantly increases performance and allows usage of memory on both sides, while keeping the advantages of the previous model. The Hyper 412 Slim is best suited for LGA 2011 systems due to its compact size.

The Hyper 412 Slim is another of Cooler Master’s CPU coolers using the Continuous Direct Contact technology. This technology allows the heatpipes to directly touch all of the CPU’s hottest zones in order to reach the cooling performance in the places it matters most.

Dual slim fans
The advantage of using dual fans for this cooler is a big increase in performance, something overclockers who bench on air certainly will appreciate. Another feature this adds is that the slim fans allow for usage of memory on both sides and keeping them properly cooled. Both fans can be attached to the cooler through a fan mount with quick-snap brackets. This method is much more time efficient than other solutions, to make sure that changing, adding or the cleaning of fans takes as little time as possible.

Availability
The Hyper 412 Slim will be available in stores around the beginning of June for a recommended end user price of €39,95(included 19% VAT).

Cooler Master also introduces three new thermal compound pastes
If you install a new CPU cooler, you will also need some thermal compound paste. For this reason, Cooler Master now launches three different thermal compound pastes: The IC Essential E1, IC Essential E2 and the IC Value V1. The main differences between these pastes can be found in the color and thermal conductivity. The color for IC Value V1 is white and has the lowest conductivity of the three, where the IC Essential E1 is gray and placed in the middle. The IC Essential E2 is gold colored which makes it the superior one of the three. They will all be available beginning of June as well in a specialized hardware store near you.

Alpenfohn Matterhorn PURE Review - KitGuru

Quote:
The Alpenföhn Matterhorn PURE is a high performance cooler which costs around half the price of the leading, flagship coolers from Thermaltake, Phanteks and Noctua. If you aren’t willing to spend more than £30 on a cooler, then the Matterhorn PURE is certainly worth being shortlisted. Overall we are left with positive impressions of the Matterhorn PURE. We certainly have no concerns with Alpenföhns build quality, the product is engineered to a very high standard.
They are using quality copper heat pipes and an innovative trapezoid shaped fin array which increases the surface area of the tower.
The cooling performance of the Matterhorn PURE proved to be impressive for a cooler of its size, barely being challenged by the overclock of the i5 2500k. Our results indicate that there is plenty of headroom left to deal with hotter running processors, and higher overclock/voltage settings.
For £30 it delivers a lot of performance, although we think it would benefit from the addition of an extra fan. Alphenfohn don’t supply an extra fan option, or even the fan mount clips which would be needed to get things up and running.
Obviously they are working to a strict budget, but it would be great if they released a ‘Deluxe’ version with extra fan and clips, for £5 more.

Overclockers are stocking this cooler right now for £30.98 inc vat. At this price it really is difficult to ignore.
Pros
  • Very quiet.
  • Easy to install.
  • Solid engineering.
Cons
  • Only 1 fan and 1 set of fan clips provided.
  • Not suitable for non-low profile memory.

Thermaltake Water 2.0 Pro Liquid Cooling Syste Review - Pro-Clockers

Quote:
The Thermaltake Water 2.0 Pro kit is one of the better cooling situations we have tested this year. And we are not stating this because of cooling performance which was good but the fact it did not take up a lot of room and installation was not difficult. We pumped our i7 3930k with 1.4v and the kit handled it very well.
Thermaltake did a nice job with the new kits as the quality of the kit was superb. The fans while in PWM mode are as quiet as can be. But without the function the fans were noticeable but not bothersome.
In general we all know that all-in-one makes getting into water-cooling much easier. There is less hassle taking this route than going out spending a ton of money piecing one together. Granted, the AIO kits don’t perform like the more expensive option.so, one would need to decide what is their preference, better cooling or convenience.
The Thermaltake Water 2.0 Pro has hit the retail shelves as of last week. The Price is on the high side but in the same price range of the Corsair H80 according to a quick Google search.
