Review: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 - Hexus
Citat:
Building on the strengths of the Dark Rock Pro 2, be quiet!'s third-generation cooler is outfitted with a range of upgrades that help strengthen its core functionality. Cooling performance is increased through contoured, dotted fins and rearranged heatpipes, while noise levels are further reduced courtesy of revamped fans outfitted with six-pole motors.
The result is an evolutionary design that's highly efficient, remarkably quiet and ideally suited to enthusiast builders looking to construct a near-silent rig. Granted, an array of rival coolers offer similar heat dissipation qualities at more affordable prices, but they typically aren't anywhere near as quiet.
Factor in the Dark Rock Pro 3's appearance, build quality and three-year warranty, and you have an admirable package whose only real drawback is an awkward mounting kit. Installation can be frustrating, and that's something we hope to see improved on future Dark Rock Pro coolers, but for those who want maximum performance combined with the least amount of noise, the Dark Rock Pro 2 is worth the effort.
The Good
Keeps very quiet at all times
Excellent cooling performance
Looks awesome for a CPU cooler
Two SilentWings fans included as standard
Solid build quality and three-year warranty
The Bad
Still awkward to install
Memory clearance could be an issue

be quiet! Dark Rock 3 - TPU
Citat:
  • The be quiet! Dark Rock 3 retails for $69.99.
  • Very quiet
  • Great cooling performance
  • Visually stunning
  • Exceptional build quality
  • Ability to mount second fan
  • Good warranty
  • High price
  • Looms over one DIMM slot
  • Sits extremely close to the primary expansion slot

The be quiet! Dark Rock 3 is an exceptional traditional tower cooler. The design may be nothing new, but this is an example of taking it to another level. Let us start with noise levels, or should I say lack thereof? This is the tower cooler to get if silence is your prerogative. Even more impressive is that cooling performance did not suffer in order to keep noise levels down. The Dark Rock 3 offers best-in-class cooling that beats out every other single-fan tower cooler I have tested, which is no small feat, I assure you. Let us not forget that be quiet!'s latest offering does all this while being visually appealing. The attention to detail its dark nickel-plated aluminum fins, brushed aluminum top-plate and heatpipe caps exhibit make this an attractive design. This is a cooler that can go with any theme a user may have in mind. The Dark Rock 3's build quality is also exceptional and easily on par with the likes of Noctua. Add in the three year warranty and ability to attach a second fan, and you have a winning combination.

The issues that come to mind with this cooler are rather generic. At $69.99 €59.90, its price is a bit rough. It may be best-in-class and have killer looks, but is only 1°C better than Scythe's Ashura cooler, which is far cheaper and comes with better memory clearance. That leads us on to our next point: memory clearance. While decent, it again falls short as the cooler looms over one of the motherboard's DIMM slots. Standard-height memory will fit, but users looking to install flashy memory, like Corsair's Dominator Platinums, will want to stick to two DIMMs instead. The cooler also sits extremely close to the primary expansion slot, which may have the fan clip touch the back of the graphics card, although that depends on the card and your motherboard. Motherboards with a PCIe x1 slot as their first expansion slot should not run into this issue, but it is something to keep in mind.

I am, ultimately, impressed by what the Dark Rock 3 offers. If be quiet! were to only somehow curtail cost a bit while also coming up with a low-profile fan clip, I would recommend the cooler to anyone looking for a mid-range, high-quality cooling solution.

The be quiet! Dark Rock 3 is the CPU cooler to own for those who want high performance, low-noise cooling with style!

Improving upon the Reserator 3 MAX released last year, the Reserator 3 MAX Dual bolsters performance drastically by utilizing a large 240mm Radiator compared to the smaller 120mm radiator size of its smaller brother. The Reserator 3 MAX Dual features the classic ZALMAN Omega heatsink structure, reborn and updated in its current form for the most effective radiator use in closed loop liquid cooling solutions. Enhanced with 240mm radiator capacity, the Reserator 3 MAX Dual will feature unparalleled performance with whisper quiet acoustics.

Continuing the trend with Nanofluids
Coolant applied with nanofluids improves thermal conductivity by mixing in nanoparticles with fluids, dramatically increasing the amount of heat that is effectively carried from the water block to the radiator. This exciting new technology which was pioneered by the Reserator 3 MAX will also be utilized in the Reserator 3 MAX Dual.

Optimized Quad Radial Radiator Design
Reserator 3 MAX Dual features a slim fin pure copper radiator for increased performance; the copper is then plated with black-pearl Nickel for increased corrosion resistance and sleek aesthetics. Quad radial radiators are actually four radiators fit into the space of two, manufactured using extra slim fins for increased surface area that translates into incredible heat dissipation. Liquid flows through the radiator using four copper pipes following a highly efficient Octa cooling path system that is eight times more powerful than traditional two pipe cooling design.

Micro-Fin Copper Base and High Performance Water Pump
Built in low noise, high performance pump within low profile water block for maximum liquid circulation and efficient thermal transfer. Pump capacity to move 90 liters of coolant per hour of operation. Water block CPU contact area made of pure copper and applied with micro fins for maximum heat transfer, ZALMAN ZM-STG2M high performance thermal grease is included to compliment Reserator 3 MAX Dual performance and maximize thermal conductivity between CPU and water block. Blue LED on water block and radiator fan brings a sleek look and feel to chassis interior. Maximum performance radiator fan eliminates radiator dead zones increasing the rate heat is expelled, induction of airflow inside chassis gives extra cooling efficiency to motherboard and VRM. Additional 120mm fans can be mounted for push-pull configuration.

Thermaltake Bigwater 760 Pro Water Cooling System Review - ThinkComputers
Citat:
Let me start of this ending by saying that I am still excited about this product. Of course the overclock ceiling was a little low, but I have to say that this kit still has great potential. That potential is of course expandability. I believe the reason for our limited overclock should be pretty obvious. We are likely limited by the radiator. Both in size and location I believe this is the chink in the armor of an otherwise superb watercooling kit. Physically the radiator is particularly inferior to the much thicker one used in say the Water 3.0 Pro. A radiator of this thickness I would have liked to see be no smaller than 240mm. The fan and fin density does it’s best, but it just doesn’t cut it. Then there is the cramped location with just a single fan. Although it is clever and clean, having the radiator stuffed into the 5.25” bays means it’s rather unlikely it will ever get cool fresh air.
Having said all that with this kit you have enough tubing left over that you would only need to spend a small amount in addition to the already appropriate price to add an additional radiator and really up the performance. In addition to being able to add more radiators the kit’s 500 L/hr flow rate will support additional water blocks as well which really adds value. Hopefully we will be able to test out this ability in a future expanded review.
Everything about this kit was simple, it really was quite a joy to install. There is nothing to be intimidated by with watercooling anymore thanks to Tt. The fan stays nice and quiet thanks to the control knob. And actually ranging from 1893 rpm – 2636 rpm the noise level was acceptable all around.

Pros:
- Cost
- Ease of use
- Fit and Finish
- Expandability
Cons:
- Better cooling can be had for a lower cost

The block is entirely made in Germany and milled from 2.72kg high-purity electrolytic copper raw material. It covers the GPUs, all RAM chips, the voltage regulators and the PCIe bridge chip. All areas are covered by the flow path of the cooling liquid to provide an excellent cooling performance.

Both GPUs are covered by a micro structure with a 0.5 mm grid. The water flows through both structures in parallel which allows an even temperature for both GPUs. To achieve this effect the cooling structures use a different depth which makes sure that the same amount of water flows through both of them.

The contact surface of the base is high gloss polished. To gain the last bit of cooling performance the kryographics Vesuvius for R9 295X2 allows using thermal grease instead of thermal pads for the RAM chips. Like the base the Plexiglas cover is also milled from a solid block. To avoid the risk of cracks Aqua Computer uses casted Plexiglas and does not drill any threads inside the cover. The cover is held in place by a stainless steel frame which allows for an evenly distributed pressure.
For an easy installation the block comes with preassembled distance pieces so the screws can be tightened as far as they will go to achieve an optimal contact pressure. The block can be used with regular G1/4" fittings and the connection terminal offers threads into both directions. The regular connection terminal can be also exchanged with the optional kryoconnect adapter which can be used for Crossfire setups. To honor the GPUs and graphics cards codenames the block also features a little map of Hawaii which is integrated into the flow path and a little engraved volcano can be found on a stainless steel insert.

The block with a copper base is available for 169.90 Euro while a nickel plated variant will follow soon for 184.90 Euro. Both variants will be also available with a smoked Plexiglas top.

Those who look for the ultimate cooling experience will be also able to purchase a passive and active backplate. They will be available later in May; prices are TBA.

Noctua NH-D15 Review - Hexus
Citat:
Noctua is a company that understands what enthusiast consumers are looking for in a CPU cooler. Responding to market trends, the manufacturer has in recent years bolstered its portfolio with a varied range of solutions that cover any manner of build, be it small-form-factor, low-profile HTPC or high-end gaming rig.
All share a common set of sought-after traits, including high-quality construction, low-noise-optimised fans, comprehensive bundles and a class-leading six-year warranty.
There's plenty to like throughout the range, yet it's the best solutions that create a buzz around the brand, and the NH-D15 is both a worthy flagship and a satisfying successor to the highly-regarded NH-D14. Despite its gargantuan size, this towering chunk of metal is refreshingly easy to install, it delivers a level of cooling performance that's on par, if not better, than today's closed-loop liquid coolers, and it's designed to make the least amount of noise possible.
We're of the opinion that smaller and cheaper Noctua solutions will serve most users just as well - this £78 crown jewel is overkill for the vast majority of users - yet if you're heavily into overclocking and you want the very best cooling for your CPU, you'll do well to find anything better than the excellent NH-D15.
The Good
Outstanding cooling performance
Runs very quietly
Well-rounded bundle
Good RAM clearance
User-friendly mounting system
Includes two 140mm fans as standard
Excellent build quality
Six-year warranty
The Bad
Brown and beige isn't for everyone

Noctua NH-D15 Review - Vortez
Citat:
The NH-D14 has stood the test of time and remained a prolific cooling solution for many years and so today has been very intriguing – not least to see how Noctua can improve on such a steadfast product. So how does this new flagship fare?

We’re no stranger to Noctua products and we’ve often mentioned how thoughtful they are when it comes to packaging. With NH-D15, they’ve turned it up a notch further by presenting each of the mounting kits, accessories, cooling fans and even the heatsink with a separate box – these finishing touches and the handy instructions manual deliver an insight into their design philosophy.
D15 itself is a beast to be tamed. Its twin-tower design will dwarf a standard ATX motherboard but we don’t mind that at all because this cooler is aesthetically very pleasing to the eye. Noctua has been designing D15 for considerable time now and this is evident by the engineering decisions and quality – the recessed lower fins are cleverly integrated to allow compatibility for taller memory.
The performance of a cooler is often the overriding factor when it comes to making a decision whether to invest or not and we can safely say that the D15 is a big improvement over the highly revered D14 and is worthy of the flagship moniker. In all our tests this cooler demonstrated consistent thermal prowess, even matching the performance of some leading liquid cooling solutions. D15 may not have topped the charts but an important factor needs to be noted, other coolers required significantly more RPM in order to achieve the result but D15 attained its milestone by using lower RPM and thus emitted less noise. Therein lies the fundamental principle to which Noctua operate – striking the balance between performance and noise.
At a cost of £77.95 GBP / $99 USD, the NH-D15 isn’t cheap, but neither is the quality of this cooler, or the entire bundle. The inclusion of two 140mm cooling fans is a particular highlight, and one which rivals don’t usually offer. Each fan has a value of £19 / $28 just on their own – when this is put into the equation, D15 is actually quite an attractive investment.
Pros
+ Excellent packaging
+ Pleasing to the eye
+ Great performance
+ Brilliant memory clearance
+ Low-noise operation
+ Generous bundle including 2X140mm fans
Cons
- Big cost

Noctua NH-D15 Review - NikkTech
Citat:
I've been following and testing products made by Noctua since the very beginning so when they announced the NH-D15 to us we immediately knew that it would be a worthy successor to the highly acclaimed NH-D14. Sure we didn't expect miracles since in their current state dual tower CPU Coolers have pretty much reached their maximum cooling efficiency but we did expect something more from Noctua and so surpassing the Silver Arrow Extreme by Thermalright was a very pleasant surprise. Noise levels play a significant role in the end game and so having the best possible cooling efficiency (it did dominate the chart) with relatively low noise levels is always the best possible scenario thus the NH-D15 has placed Noctua back at the top of CPU Air Coolers, for now at least.
It's very normal for Dual Tower CPU Coolers to be more expensive than single tower ones and even more when we are talking about the current king of the hill. So the NH-D15 by Noctua currently has a recommended retail price tag set at around USD99.90 inside the USA and 89.90Euros inside the EU so once available widely you should be able to find it for even less. Granted the price tag is set quite high but it's not the first time we see such numbers and when we're talking about the best CPU Air Cooler currently i don't think it's much. Of course just like many other people i still hope that Noctua will one day design their very own Liquid CPU Cooler but with solutions like the NH-D15 i don't know if they will ever find a serious reason to do so.
PROS
- Build Quality
- Design (Limited Clearance Issues)
- Superior Cooling Efficiency (Top CPU Air Cooler In Our Charts)
- Dual 140mm 1500RPM Fans
- Ability to Add An 3rd Fan
- Noise Levels
CONS
- Price (For Some)
GIGABYTE Unveils its WaterForce VGA Liquid-Cooling Solution

It consists of a large external module that contains the coolant reservoirs, a gargantuan radiator with multiple fans, the pumps, and ports for coolant tubes for individual cards, that make their way into your case through a hub that takes up a 5.25-inch drive bay.

The main unit also has a coolant temperature display for each of the coolant channel, and controls that let you fine-tune cooling performance taking temperatures and noise into account. The tubes then reach each of the installed WaterForce series graphics cards, which feature full-coverage water blocks that cover not just the GPU, but also memory and VRM. The system GIGABYTE demoed had three cards based on NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti. GIGABYTE also showed off its new WindForce 600W cooling solution, which recently made its debut as part of a bundle with the company's GeForce GTX TITAN Black graphics card. It's capable of handling thermal loads as high as 600W.

Silverstone Tundra Series TD03 CPU Water Cooler Review - eTeknix
Citat:
I am really surprised by the Tundra, I was expecting it to be high quality and high performance, much like every other Silverstone product I’ve seen roll through the eTeknix office, or from my own personal experiences with the brand, but I wasn’t expecting it to be as great as this. Sure it’s not perfect, but it really does shake up this sector of the market by doing things a little differently to the competition.
Silverstone could have done what most brands do, stick their own fans and badge on an Asetek product and most users would have been happy with that, but they’ve taken the risk of creating a unique pump / block design from solid aluminium, which not only looks stunning, but it’s also a heck of a lot more durable that the thousands of plastic construction ones that are on the market these days. The radiator design is very nice, it’s a little thicker than most other 120mm designs, but that extra surface area is what gives the TD03 such great performance when overclocking. The nickel-plated aluminium finish is a welcome break from all the typically black coolers on the market and will look great in virtually any chassis, especially those who have an aluminium enclosure. Add to that the fact the TD03 has some of the slimmest pipes on a water cooler, which means the pump is very manoeuvrable once installed, that flexibility will benefit those who need to mount at tighter angles, something common in HTPC / Mini-ITX system builds.
Having this level of performance from a 120mm radiator is incredible and I see no reason to invest in a 240mm or larger radiator that offers the same performance, especially when you can get a much more manageable 120mm radiator that does the same job. The only downside of course is that the TD03 was a little noisy, or at least the fans were. This is something you could control by changing the fan profile, but slow the fans and you’ll see an increase in temperatures, so it’s really about finding a balance that works for you. You could add aftermarket fans to improve acoustics, but I wouldn’t do so in a hurry given the cooling performance is really great with the included fans.
This cooler should prove very popular with those building a small form factor gaming system; there are many mini-ITX gaming chassis on the market and finding a suitable water cooler can be tricky, leaving you to make compromises on other components to ensure compatibility on 240mm radiators. Aside from being a little deeper, the TD03 is very easy to work with and compatibility shouldn’t be an issue for most builds given that only need a single 120mm fan mount space. So long as you can cope with the investment, this is easily one of the best all-in-one water coolers on the market today.
Pros
  • Unique design
  • Aluminium construction
  • Virtually silent pump
  • Durable build quality
  • Incredibly cooling performance
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Fans are a little noisy
  • High price may put some people off
Alphacool Announces its GPU Cooler Customization Service
Citat:

For many years Alphacool has noticed a gap in the market for watercooling solutions for lower end or nonreference designed graphics cards. Until recently the high cost of developing specialised full cover watercooling blocks has forced manufacturers to focus only on producing blocks for the higher end cards. With new patented technology Alphacool have the ability to fill this gap in the market by producing full cover waterblocks for any non-reference or lower end graphics card.

The cooler comprises of three parts shown in the image below. Firstly the waterblock is designed around the 'core only' concept but is used in conjunction with the custom made base plate that is made specifically for each type of GPU ensuring the perfect fit. A custom made back plate is also included in the package at no extra cost.

The specially designed cooling block will serve two uses, firstly to cool the core of the GPU and secondly to cool the copper plate which is fixed to the aluminimum base (no water is in contact with the aluminimum at any point). The mosfets on the card will be cooled to the same level as they would be on an air cooled graphics card running its fan at full speed while the core and ram would see a temperature drop in the region of 30-40c. The block has also been designed to work universally so when you upgrade your card you will be able to buy just the plates you need. Alphacool will be launching this range based on any Nvidia card 7XX or above or any AMD card 2XX or above. Nvidia 750 Ti Solutions for reference cards will be available at launch for 59€ including the back plate. Nvidia Titan Black solutions will also be available for 79€ including back plate.

For customers looking for blocks for non-reference cards or cards that we have not already covered with the standard blocks there is now the option to send your card into Alphacool. By using state of the art 3D scanning technology to measure your GPU Alphacool can custom make you a cooling plate. As a reward for sending the card in Alphacool will send the customer a free cooling set for their GPU (Plate, block and back plate). The GPU cooler will also be added to the product range so other customers with the same card can also purchase the block.

Alphacool will also be producing a unique “multi-bridge” connection system for customer’s with more than one GPU. The bridge will effortlessly connect the waterblocks as well as letting the customer illuminate the Alphacool logo with 5mm LED’s.

To support the modding community Alphacool will be publishing the dimensions of the “multi-bridge” cover so you have the ability to make your own. Also if there is enough demand for a specific brand or logo Alphacool will be making custom covers available.

XSPC RX360 V3 Triple Fan Radiator Review - NikKTech
Citat:
When i first saw a picture of the (upcoming back then) RX360 V3 a while back i was quite impressed with its size and design not only because it was quite thicker and nicer looking compared to normal radiators but also because at the same time it was also thinner compared to other similar solutions (56mm/60mm). Of course using an 4mm less thick radiator is not game breaking and I’m certain XSPC is well aware of that but whatever one can squeeze out in terms of interior space is always good especially for midi and normal full towers (monsters like the 900D are not really affected). However i think that the number one question in everyone’s mind is how did the RX360 V3 do and that's clearly shown from our charts since it surpassed the EX280 with ease. To be honest with everyone at first we did expect a larger performance difference since we were quite confident that three premium 120mm fans paired with an 360mm long 56mm thick radiator should greatly surpass two 140mm fans paired with an 280mm long 33mm thick radiator but that didn't happen for one very important reason, width. You see the RX360 V3 might be longer and thicker but it's also smaller in width (130mm/143mm) and so the EX280 ended up performing better than we had originally thought it would (which is certainly good news for people with towers that can fit wider radiators).

The latest RX360 V3 Triple Fan Radiator by XSPC currently retails for USD105.95 inside the USA (Amazon.com) and 107.15Euros inside the EU (Amazon.de) so although it may not be very cheap still it offers an excellent price/performance ratio unachieved by its immediate and current competition. Of course for people who are willing to spend more to get the best possible cooling performance XSPC also offers the premium AX series of radiators (we will try to get one of those to compare against) while for people on a tighter budget the EX series should be more ideal.
PROS
- Build Quality (Copper & Brass)
- Very Good Performance
- Side & Bottom G1/4” Ports
- Black Chrome Port Plugs Included
- Thickness (56mm)
- Price (For Some)

CONS
- None
