G.Skill RipjawsZ 16GB DDR3-2133 -Pureoverclock

Quote:
G.Skill has produced memory for over 20 years now. In a very competitive industry they continue the trend of manufacturing great looking memory modules with this 16G/2133MHz RipjawsZ series. The theme and design changes from the RipjawsX series is now a bold black theme that blends with any motherboard, especially the monochromatic boards of 2012.
The performance of the new RipjawsZ modules is just stellar. Overclocking them yielded some significant gains; however, performance gains were modest in some benchmarks and negligible in others. This may be deceiving as lower timings push the platform to a different level.

Overall, you would think higher frequencies would yield better performance. ASUS shared with us that the sweet spot for memory frequencies with this platform are at 1600MHz for general overclocking.

One may ask, “Why buy 2133MHz modules?” The answer is that the RipjawsZ modules get even lower timings than your standard 1600MHz memory kits at the same frequencies. Some may want to run lower frequencies at tighter timings and others may want to run the Ripjaws at bleeding edge frequencies. Regardless, the Ripjaws shine either way and their $139 price tag is very attractive for what is an amazing set of memory.

Kingston HyperX Genesis 2666mhz Memory Review (Z77) - KitGuru

Quote:
The Kingston HyperX Genesis 2666mhz memory slots in right at the top of our performance chart. All the Quad Channel systems score more in the memory read tests, but these results are exceptional for a Dual Channel memory kit.
If you want the fastest possible memory then the Kingston HyperX Genesis 2666mhz kit is just about as good as you can buy. We had no problems getting the 2666mhz XMP profile operational with the Asus ROG Maximus V Gene Z77 motherboard.
As expected, the HyperX Genesis 2666mhz kit delivers class leading results for the Z77 platform, outperforming our fast 2,400mhz memory by G.Skill and Corsair. If we had access to another of these kits from Kingston we could have posted some results in Quad Channel via the X79 platform, but sadly that wasn’t possible for early publication today.
Kingston have experienced some criticism in the past for their use of dramatically oversized heatspreaders, which can cause some mounting issues with the largest CPU coolers, such as Noctua’s NH D14. The HyperX Genesis memory we reviewed today causes no such problems, as the heatspreaders are no bigger than the PCB underneath.
The argument could be made that high speed memory doesn’t make a dramatic impact on overall system performance ‘in the real world’, however we can see noticeable gains with professional level tasks, such as 3D encoding. Gamers however will only notice minor gains when upgrading to 2,400mhz or 2,600mhz memory.
We don’t have pricing information at time of press, but you can expect to pay a premium over 1,600mhz, 1,866mhz and even 2,133mhz memory. It is therefore difficult to give a final score today, however it is certainly WORTH BUYING if you are trying to build the fastest possible system while eliminating any potential bottlenecks.
Pros:
  • Heatspreaders are compact.
  • XMP profile worked fine @ 2,666mhz with the ASUS Motherboard.
  • Great all round performance.
Cons:
  • Be prepared to pay more for 2,666mhz speeds.

Kingston HyperX T1 2800MHz DDR3 Memory on Ivy Bridge Review - Legit Reviews

Quote:
Kingston Technology has really stepped up their game and have developed some great looking dual-channel memory kits that will be available next month. The fastest dual-channel DDR3 memory kit that you can buy today from Newegg is 2666MHz and Kingston will be right there with their new speed offerings. The only company with a kit like this on the market today is G.SKILL with their Trident X Series. Kingston will be countering that product offering with their HyperX T1 series and they should have no problem competing.
The Kingston Hyper T1 4GB 2800MHz memory kit (KHX2800C12D3T1K2/4GX) that we looked at here today did a superb job on our motherboard that features the Intel Z77 Express chipset and the Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge processor. We ran this kit from 800MHZ with CL6 timings all they way up to 2800MHz with CL12 timings. It is pretty wild to see a 2000MHz spread with a memory kit, but this kit was up for the task.
The one downside to this memory kit is that it is available as just a 4GB dual-channel kit. In this day and age most people will want to run between 8 to 16 GB of memory in their primary system. This kit was clearly designed for overclocking and breaking benchmark records. The overclocking that we for this review hardly did this memory kit justice as you really need LN2 cooling on this memory kit to get this most from it.

Pricing for this module is unknown since it might not come to market, so we don't have much to say about pricing this time around. All Kingston memory is lifetime warrantied and that is great when you are looking to invest in some high-performance memory modules that go well beyond standard clock speeds!

G. Skill Ripjaws PC3-17000 32GB Memory Kit Review

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/469...iew/index.html

"...Moving in closer we get a better idea of what exactly we're dealing with here today when it comes to core specifications. The PC3-17000 name translates to 2133MHz DDR and you can see we're at a 9-11-11-31 setup that requires 1.6v, slightly down on the typical 1.65v we see on higher end kits. As for the amount of RAM, you can see we're dealing with an 8GB x 4 kit which translates to a massive 32GB...."

Crucial Ballistix Elite 16GB DDR3-1866 BLE2CP8G3D1869DE1TX0CEU Review - OCInside

Quote:
Result and general impression ...

The Crucial Ballistix Elite PC3-14900 16GB RAM kit 1x BLE2CP8G3D1869DE1TX0CEU or 2x BLE8G3D1869DE1TX0CEU reached very fast the maximum overclocking frequency - not the maximum of the memory kit, but the maximum frequency of the motherboard, just with the standard voltage of approx. 1.5 Volt.

Thanks to the integrated XMP-1866 profile it should be also for laymen absolutely no problem to setup the proper values with a XMP capable motherboard, even if it is on some motherboards necessary to do small adjustments as we have seen in our test with the ASRock Z68 Pro3 motherboard.

Alternatively of course one can enter all these values also manually in the BIOS and it was not necessary to increase the DDR3 voltage for this Crucial Ballistix Elite PC3-14900 16GB kit to run the modules stable at DDR3-1866. All in all these new Crucial Ballistix Elite PC3-14900 modules sets new standards and are in the truest sense of the word the Elite modules from Crucial.

Patriot Viper Extreme Division 4 QCh 16GB - Hardcoreware

Quote:

Although this Patriot Viper Extreme Division 4 kit didn’t overclock at all, it still has some things going for it. First of all the price – at just $95 (plus you get an 8GB flash card) this is the cheapest 16 GB quad channel kit we’ve reviewed so far that is clocked at 1600 MHz or above. And yet it still comes with impressive specs and a lifetime warranty.
And even though it didn’t overclock, that’s not exactly something to base your purchasing decision on when it comes to memory. After all, the jump from 1600 MHz to 1866 MHz doesn’t exactly yield a huge leap in real world performance, even with 4 channels going to the CPU. Besides, it is already clocked with low CAS 8 latency timings.
The only thing really holding this kit back for me are the large heatsinks, which I obviously am not a big fan of. I have just run into too many problems with large heatsinks getting in the way, and considering that you are only ever going to run memory like this at 1.65v or lower, there really is no need for huge heatsinks in the first place.

G.Skill TridentX 8GB 2400mhz Memory - Review (Z77 platform)

Quote:
The TridentX 2400mhz 8GB kit is another fantastic product from G.Skill, they certainly seem to be leading the enthusiast memory sector in recent months. This high performance memory paired up well with the Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H motherboard and we experienced no issues achieving rock solid performance at 2,400mhz.
We attempted to overclock the memory by overriding the profile to 2,666mhz but we couldn’t get a stable post at these speeds, even when we relaxed the timings and raised voltage a little more, outside Intel specifications. Increasing the BCLK was slightly more successful and we managed to increase the memory speeds to 2520mhz before instability would occur. We didn’t need to relax the timings either, maintaining the same 10-12-12 default settings.
There are so many memory kits right now on the market that much of the purchasing decision has to be based on the price. Novatech are stocking this memory at Ł99.98 and Overclockers have it on an offer for Ł95.99.
Currently G.Skill are offering a RipJawsZ 16GB 1600mhz kit for Ł89.99, which delivers double the memory capacity of our review product today, for around Ł10 less.
This raises a valid question – is it really worth paying the premium for 2,400mhz memory right now? We would say that if you use your machine for 3D rendering and video encoding that the higher specified memory will deliver a noticeable performance benefit. For a pure gaming PC, I would opt for a higher capacity (but slower) kit right now. It all depends on your desires and demands.
Regardless, this G.Skill TridentX 2,400mhz memory offers fantastic performance at a relatively modest price point. I am old enough to remember when an ultra slow 2GB DDR memory kit cost well over Ł200. There has never been a better time to buy quality memory.
Pros:
  • Competitive pricing.
  • great heatspreader design with removable top fin.
  • overclocks past 2,500mhz at the same timings.
Cons:
  • Compared to 1,600mhz memory it is still expensive.
  • I don’t really see a need for the red top fin on the heatspreader.

Patriot Viper Xtreme Division 4 DDR3-1866 16GB Quad Channel Memory Kit Review - ThinkComputers.org

Quote:

Patriot has brought their very popular and equally impressive Viper Xtreme series memory kits to the quad-channel and Intel X79 crowd. Since getting my first chance to check these kits out a couple of years ago I have been a fan. First let’s start with the build quality, it is quite impeccable. The 6 gram copper core and extruded aircraft-grade aluminum that make up the heatspreaders make for extremely solid modules. They not only will keep your memory nice and cool they look pretty damn impressive doing it. These modules have to some of the heaviest available right now.

With support for XMP 1.3 you can easily enable the XMP profile in the BIOS and get the kit up and running at the advertised speeds with no trouble at all. I would have liked to see a compatible X79 motherboards list provided by Patriot. This would really help consumers who are building a new system.

I was quite impressed with the overclock that I achieved with this kit. This kit is set to run at 1866MHz, which is above the normal 1600MHz, which seems to be the default for the X79 platform. I was able to easily to get the memory up to 2133MHz without having to change the voltage or timings at all. This was very impressive as when you are bringing memory up this high you usually need to adjust the timings and voltage.

Pros:
- 6 gram copper core and extruded aircraft-grade aluminum heatspreaders
- XMP 1.3 compliant
- Lifetime warranty
- Good overclocking headroom
Cons:
- None that I found

Kingston HyperX Genesis 8GB DDR3-2400 - PureOverclock

Quote:
Kingston continues with their tradition of making great memory modules. Their latest edition, the 8GB HyperX Genesis 2400MHz kit tops the charts in default speeds for the X79 platform. Their last release, the HyperX Red edition really impressed us, as do these HyperX Genesis modules.
The Kingston HyperX Genesis heat spreaders have not changed, and are still a great choice for those looking for good looking and higher performance low profile memory. The blue aesthetics add color to any system build, but would look particularly impressive on any ASUS P9 series or Sapphire motherboards featuring blue DIMM slots, and other similarly colored accents.

The overclocking prowess may not look huge considering the HyperX Genesis’ default speeds are 2400MHz, but we were able to overclock them to 2460MHz which is the highest of any quad channel memory kit we have seen so far. Performance increases from 1600MHz to 2400MHz held their course in our benchmarks while latencies and bandwidth increases were up by 22%.
