ASUS PA246Q ProArt 24” IPS Monitor Review - HardwareCanucks

If that isn’t enough for you, it also comes with a mammoth 12-bit internal Look up Table and a price of about $500. In an age of inexpensive, low quality TN panels $500 may sound like a hefty amount but when you consider the features which the ProArt brings to the table, this is a veritable steal.

HannsG HL225 Review - Techradar

Quote:
The results are a mixed bag. Blacks were spot-on in our tests, and there was superb representation of gradients. The problem arose when it came to representation of whites, which were over-saturated.
Further tests showed that gamma representation was accurate, so the problem should have been fixed with the X-Contrast turned on, but it made no difference.
There's also no HDMI port, which is practically unheard of on current monitors, and there's no adaptor in the box.
When the shortcomings are taken away, we're left with the question of price. £109 for a 22-inch LED monitor is a fantastic proposition, and on that basis, we'd be happy to recommend the HL225 to anyone looking for a super thin PC monitor.
It won't make your movies look the best, or help you to edit amazing photos, but it's a strong performer and a true bargain.

Zalman ZM-M240W Stereoscopic 3D Monitor Review - BCC Hardware

Quote:
Image quality is average and I had trouble getting one game to render properly at all - but overall the experience was pretty decent. I actually used the ZM-M240W one evening for a bunch of online play and I found that it wasn't a hindrance in performance like I've seen with active shutter glasses. I was able to keep gaming for hours with these and didn't do too bad. Any competitive gamer will tell you that gaming competitively in 3D is impossible. With the Zalman ZM-M240W - it was possible and it did so without making my eyes bleed.
3D technology is probably here to stay (in one form or another) and this screen enables you to find yourself a bit more immersed in your favorite game. Is it the best solution on the market? Probably not, but it is affordable and is one of the first polarized displays we've seen to hit the mainstream. There will be a lot more competition in the near future to keep Zalman innovating. That is important as products will get better and the consumer will win!

Pros:
  • Polarized glasses are affordable
  • Decent contrast ratio
  • Adequate 3D effect
  • Comes with software for playing movies and creating 3D wallpaper
  • Fully HDCP DVI + VGA connections
  • Built-in speakers
  • Less eye-strain than active shutter-glasses
Cons:
  • Stand feels flimsy
  • Doesn't work on all games
  • Hard to tweak so everything remains converged and focused
  • Interlaced method cuts vertical resolution in half (540px)

Hanns.G HS233 Review - Techradar

Quote:
The HS233 produces 3D images of the same calibre as the more costly Asus and BenQ panels and adds another level of immersion with a game or movie, just as the others do, but it's up to the user to decide if that's worth coping with the torturously painful glasses.

We liked
The Hanns.G HS233 is a very capable 3D monitor at a very reasonable price-point. And thanks to that 120MHz refresh rate it's also one hell of a good all-round monitor, too.
It's also backlit, giving vivid colour representation and crystal clear images.

We disliked
That reasonable price-point, though, unlike the competing Asus screen, doesn't include the Nvidia 3D Vision kit. That itself costs another £100, so if you're after the full 3D package you've got to pay.

AOC e2343F2 LED Monitor Review - TBreak

Quote:
Usually, I conclude my reviews with either a recommended or not recommended, but with the AOC e2343F2, I am utterly confused. At its price point, it seems to offer a lot but what it offers is average at best. The color banding and ghosting are an issue, but is it worth skipping over two HDMI ports and PIP? Probably not, they are hardly noticeable unless you go look for them. As a reviewer, I would still recommend the Samsung PX2370 for the best possible image quality; however, if you are on a tight budget, the AOC is a good choice, especially considering its features. The term ‘price for performance’ has never been as profound as with the AOC e2343F2. You get exactly what you pay for, and nothing more.

Asus ProArt Series PA246Q LCD Monitor - Review

Quote:
There are certainly no shortage of 24 inch screens, but there are only a handful which I would be willing to use 24/7 with my own design oriented system… the Asus ProArt Series PA246Q is one of them. While from the outside, the design is almost a retro throwback to the 80′s, it is a very sturdy unit with metal support and a wide array of connectivity options to cover every demand. Technically it rivals the excellent Dell U2410, another class leading IPS design in the same price bracket.
The quality of the screen is really without question, scoring well with colour accuracy and saturation, black definition and white purity. On a technical level, it is more than a match for the Dell U2410.
With the wealth of 16:9 panels saturating the market, it is refreshing that Asus have released a formidable high end screen for design and rendering duties, but also one that is capable enough to double up for gaming and high definition movie duties. It is rather difficult to find a great 16:10 screen now in the sub £500 sector, specifically one in a higher league than the masses of TN screens available.
TN screens are certainly great value for money but when you spend time with a well calibrated IPS panel there really is no going back. The PA246Q is a capable and diverse product which offers very high levels of performance without breaking the bank.
Scan are stocking the Asus ProArt Series PA246Q in the UK, for £425 inc vat.

Pros:
  • Great image quality
  • good connectivity
  • very customisable
  • great cable bundle
  • covers all output demands
  • comes pre assembled
  • 16:10 resolution
Cons:
  • clunky chassis and red stripe might not appeal to everyone
  • some colour options are only available in specific modes

Acer HN274H - Hi Tech Legion

Quote:
It is 2011 and 3D is alive and well with the amount of manufacturers and software offering support growing constantly. It is also nice to see Acer with a new 3D monitor which blows away their previous model in terms of performance. Despite having a 1920x1080 display on a 27-inch screen, sharpness was not an issue with the display and it is actually one of the best TN monitors I’ve seen. Yes IPS panels are still superior but there is no point comparing the HN274H to an IPS panel since it is designed for gaming, specifically in 3D, and offers feature sets which make it a cheaper alternative to full size 3D HDTVs while having standard 3D LCD monitor capabilities. If this monitor was advertised as a professional display for serious photographers and videographers, then comparing it to an IPS panel would make sense.

I wish I was a more eloquent writer so I could express the joys of playing 3D Vision. Initially, I was expecting this to be a quick review since I have a lot of hardware on my plate but found myself testing more and more games. Specifically, I was just going to test Metro 2033 and Battlefield Bad Company 2, since both games are excellent at testing real world extremes of 3D Vision gaming (really dark for Metro 2033 and blinding white scene in battlefield Bad Company 2) which easily expose ghosting and crosstalk. After being satisfied with the excellent results, I installed Bulletstorm, which is a very colorful game that runs on the Unreal 3 engine and has a lot of wide open areas with a lot of bloom applied. Typically, low saturation games fare better in 3D, like Batman and CoD4, but Bulletstorm had an “Excellent” 3D Vision rating and had very little problems with the white areas, easily fixed by adjusting the contrast a bit to minimize. Finally, I realized I have not touched my StarCraft II account (with the exception of running it for benchmarks) since December, so I fired it up in 3D Vision for a game or two. I still think RTS games are my favorite for 3D Vision as it is the closest in taking you back to when you played with toys as a kid, except the individual units move on their own. Needless to say, 3D gaming on the Acer HN274H 3D monitor was a blast and if I wasn’t on a deadline and did not have to write this article, I would probably still be playing right now.

Pros
  • 3 HDMI 1.4 ports
  • Built-in NVIDIA 3D Vision IR emitter on the bezel
  • Excellent colors for a TN panel
  • LED Backlight
  • Single button Display input switch
  • Built-in Speaker
  • No ghosting on top and bottom edges while in 3D mode
  • Excellent 2D and 3D performance
Cons
  • OSD 3D notification would be better if it was smaller and if the "option to skip" text did not popup every time.
